ABOUT PROGRAM

RQ MONEY is a unique and excellent financial software program for households (only for OS Windows yet). And it has several advantages over similar programs:
  • portable (no need for installation, just unzip to an optional folder),
  • really small size,
  • very fast (thanks to the inbuilt SQLite database),
  • user friendly (intuitive data entry and reports),
  • stable a safe (protected by password and strong encryption),
  • multilingual support
  • multiple awards and positive reviews (e.g. on Softpedia - users review: 4.5/5, editor review: 5/5 or on Softonic - users review: 8/10)
  • it is FREEWARE! (well, maybe DONATIONWARE - there exists one little limitation in the program [see next section])

Limitation

There exists one limitation in program (from version 2.0):
If a user exceeds 2000 transactions (credits, debits or transfers) - it stops work following really symbolic functions:
  • automatic back up of database
  • mass edit of transactions
  • export of modules Statistics and SummaryX
  • import of bank statements
  • writing of scheduled payments
It does not mean, that the user can not work with program without license key. But if a user donates next developing of the program by amount 10 Euro, author will send him the LICENSE KEY, which will restore this functions. You can find more details about this donation in section DONATION.

WHY IS IT WORTH MAKING A DONATION

Software development takes time and money. RQ Money is no exception. The author has spent many hours on its development and financed this project for many years. Over the years there have been many users who willingly donated money or web space to RQ Money.

LICENSE KEYS
The author has decided to reward donors by issuing LICENSE KEYS. Indeed, it is a little file (named LICENSE.KEY) which is emailed from the author to the donor. The donor has to place the file in the same folder as the program file RQMONEY.EXE. With a License key the user retains some valuable functions, which are disabled when the users database reaches 2000 transactions (credits, debits or transfers). After that, without an activated license, the following functions are disabled
  • back up function,
  • mass edit function,
  • export of modules Statistics and SummaryX,
  • import of the bank statements
  • writing of scheduled payments
These disabled functions are not essential for the basic use of the program and the user need not worry about loss of primary functioning or data. The program can still performs its primary functions. (after all, it is a freeware!).
At transaction 2000, a dialogue shows stating that some functions will now be disabled and that a License Key is required to restore the backup capability. A donation of 10 EUR (or 12 USD) can be made via PayPal account or direct bank transfer (to the Fio Bank).

LICENSE KEY ACTIVATION
An individual License key is NOT PORTABLE!, it applies to only one hard disk, or USB key. But the donor will be issued with 5 LICENSE KEYS in case, he wants to use the program on other PC, hard disk, or after a crash or disk reformatting.
PRACTICAL ADWISE: It is better to install the program to a disk partition D:\ instead of C:\ since the C:\ partition is more prone to reformatting due to operating system malfunctions (and the serial number of this partition is always changed). If the program is on disk D:\ you won't have to use a new License keys so often.

Program installation

IF YOU NEVER EVER USED PROGRAM
If you start using program for the first time, unzip all files from packed file (ZIP) to your hard-disk to some folder (eg. D:\RQMONEY or C:\RQMONEY) and run program (file RQMONEY.EXE). In first dialogue window you can set language of program (default is English). Save your language setting and start to work with program - create new database or open existing database (e.g. demo database in folder DEMO).
UPGRADE FROM VERSION 1.3 AND OLDER TO VERSION 2.x
 If you used program in version older then 1.3 and want to upgrade to version 2.x, first of all upgrade to version 1.3 (is better prepared for upgrade to version 2.x). You can upgrade from version 1.3 to 2.x in menu DATABASE / OPEN (choose extension DB instead of RQM). Version 2.x is much modern, faster and better then previous versions.
OTHER UPGRADES
Unzip all files from downloaded ZIP file to existing folder (replace all older files with newer).

BUG REPORTS

If you find bug in RQ Money, you can send a report to the author via discussing forum. It could by good, if you check whether this bug is already solved in forum or not. Please, in the report send to the author following informations:
  • detailed error description (to simulate it by the author),
  • version of RQ Money (see menu About program),
  • Windows version.

Note: Older, but still very good and stable version of program, created in programming language RapidQ. It's development was stopped.
Warning: Version 1.3 contents 2 bugs:
  • critical - if you choose back up to the same folder as is database, this database will be deleted. You have to choose other folder then database folder - the best is use other disk too!
  • visual - if you switch between many applications (eg. RQ Money and internet), it doesn't appear correct decimal numbers. In this case just close RQ Money and start it again.

Tips & tricks

Tips (in problems)

  • Delete file RQMONEY.INI and run program again.
  • Download program RQMONEY.ZIP again and unzip it correctly to the optional folder. Run program again.
  • If you have got the program on the disk C:\USERS\ or C:\PROGRAM FILES\, replace it rather to the other location (e.g. D:\RQMONEY\ or C:\RQMONEY\). System Windows sometimes does not allow to write to this two folders, especially if the user has not got full administrator rights.
  • If you have another disk partition (except C:\), it is a good idea to place your program rather to this other partition (e.g. D:\RQMONEY\). If you once will become an owner of the License key, the key will be generated to the partition (in our case D:\). If you sometimes format your C:\ partition (due the damaged or too slow system), you don't need to order a new License key each time.
  • If you feel, that some transactions are missing in the main window, the reason may be used filter (turn it off by clicking on the button on the caption FILTER) or some account(s), marked as "archive" (in this case are not shown transactions of archived accounts). Just check off this archive attribute on each account, all its transactions will be shown in the main window.

Tricks

  • turn off all filter settings by clicking to the button on FILTER caption
  • right mouse button click on the component date changes this calendar to the monthes or years
  • add a new record (in any list) by double clicking on the empty space of this list
  • edit a record (in any list) by double clicking on this selected record in the list
  • select all transactions, assigned to the summary row by double clicking on it
  • export summary table by popup menu (right mouse button clicking on the summary table)
  • increase the window of the chart by clicking on the chart
  • use formulas in amount field to calculate the sum (e.g. 1.23+4.56). After pressing ENTER this formula will be enumerated. You can use 4 basic math operators:
    + (addition)
    - (subtraction)
    / (division)
    * (mulitplication)
